Red Dragon positioning

Any suggestions or tips regarding light exposure, flow, vertical vs horizontal growth considerations for placement? I'm getting ready to position my frag that has plated over the base of its mount and is growing well. Currently on the bottom of my standard 120 with medium flow. Three mp40s (both sides and one in the middle back) lighting is 250 DE MH Phoenix x2 and ATI B+ x 2.

I have many red dragon frags/colonies spread around my tank--90g with 2 MP40 and 2 MP10's- I find it does best in my tank in the 250-350 par range and both growth and morphology does best with moderate current to heavier flow. The flow aspect surprised me a bit, but the frag midway between the MP40's dialed to max in a 48 inch long tank does the best in this regard. that being said, it seems to do just fine in all flow settings in the tank, I have not tried it in the higher (par>400) areas...

mine turns pale real easy in high light....lower in the tank it stays red and growth doesn't seem to be affected...just my two cents

I have two strains of the RD. Both seem to like like the 300ish PAR range, middle of the tank, and with good flow. The darker red one seems to like the higher PAR whereas the lighter RD a smidgen lower. After 4 years, my wife and I dumped the LEDs and went back to MH/T5. The darker RD absolutely loves it and is growing like a weed. The lighter one has responded well, but not as much as the darker.

I have several softball size colonies (got the original frag from copps) and it grows like a weed whereever i put it. Its a very hearty coral...

Does anyone have RD with deep red coloration? The frag I got was supposedly grown 16" directly under a Radium so it came from a super high light environment, but although my colony is growing like a proverbial weed it only has hints of red with pale tips.

I'm wondering how many folks have that deep red coloration and what they are doing differently?

Pictures would be lovely! :D

Mine used to be deep red but got lighter as I acclimated it to stronger light little by little.

I moved mine over to the side of the tank under 200 PAR, from 350, to get the darker red and it still looks a little too purple IMO.

This is the UC Red Dragon from Unique Corals.

I have mine located mid way up on a 90 under an 8 bulb powermodule ATI T5 fixture. It receives lots of turbulent flow. However, I also have frags in less flow in my frag tank and still keep same color.
