Hello,

I got a red general about 2 weeks ago. I am having alot of trouble finding information on how to feed it, or quite simply take care of it. I know I shouldnt have made this impulse buy but now I have to deal with the consequence. Anyways, for the past two weeks I have physically fed it one piece of krill every other day and today a piece of a silverside. Tonight when I was feeding it, I noticed that the center-most red part of him is starting to fade to a lighter color on the top and bottom sides. I also notice that one of the spines on one of its legs is missing and I dont ever remember seeing that blank spot before. Any advice on this would be great. Does anyone know how to keep these guys healthy?

I had one awhile back and i just picked it up and set it on top of a frozen cube of sfbb brine shrimp. Dont know if it was the best way but it ate it.

Well, I have just been feeding him krill and silverside pieces and he seems to be doing alright. He is very active. His color hasn't faded anymore and the missing spine has started regenerating. I have another posting about him called the hard life of a sea star. Search for it, its funny. I would give you the link but I am writing this from my phone so it makes it hard.

It should be fine then. I wish I still had mine but when all of my fish died on my first set up I switched to sand and had to get some hermits and stuff and its not coral safe so I took it back.
