Red Grape Kelp

my friends Red Grape Kelp algae is dying and i want to know if i was to take it from his tank and put it into my tank will it still live? it looks like a stick it and lost all of the round things. he had a big nitrate spike.

Did the nitrates harm it? I would think otherwise. How high did the nitrates get? Can you describe your friends tank abit as it relates to the red grape? Also can you describe yours a bit as well?

Not sure what you've posted, I would assume those are your parameters. How about lighting and tank specs? How high was the Nitrates in your friends tank?
