Yep.. not algae.. Thats cyanobacteria
Its very common in new tanks and you just need to siphon it out during water changes..
You can get a hundred reasons that people "think" cause it.. From too low of flow to phosphates issues to nitrate to dissolved organics to too much light to chloramines to blah blah blah..
Siphon it out with water changes and if you have no corals just turn the lights off for a while.. IF you have corals its safe to do a 3 day lights out but turn them back on after that..
