Red Hornets

How fast do red hornets grow and what is the best way to make them grow fast.

do you know their origin? Most reds come from the Solomon Islands...so that=quirky polyps. An origin would really help and I have never heard of red hornets as a polyp genus. good luck!

i have many red hornets. they are very hardy and grow great. thhey are probably the best colorful and growing polyps i have ever had. they survived 2 alk swings and multiple fraggings. i bought 1 polyp at their peak and now i have or sold 20 plus polyps since may of this year. you cant go wrong with them.

I dont know why people get all stressed about zoas... thier a "set it and forget it" type of coral.. start at the bottom and work your way up intill you find a "sweet spot"

dont worry about light flow high low sunrise sunset hot cold fat skinny cheese no cheese.. just let them do thier thing :thumbsup:

My red hornets grow fast also

I had them up on a frag rack under T5s pretty high up. They grew quickly from 1 to 7 polyps in less than 2 months. Still are beautiful.

Half way up under 175 halides with medium flow. Like Friday said though, I started them at the bottom and moved them up slowly. I find most of my zoa's will do just as good on the sand bed as any where else.

Like Friday said, I do like to leave mine, but I was just curious. Mine started out on the frag rack up pretty high, which is where they grew pretty fast but polyps weren't fully opening, so I thought they were too high/too much light. Thus the move down to my sand bed, plus I don't like to leave frags on a rack.

i got a single polyp of red hornets 2 weeks ago, now i have three. I keep all three of my hornets-blue,purple,red on the sandbed of my 75 with 4x54 t5s.

Funny?? I see zero red in those polyps at all!..gotta love the name? I am wondering how the pseudo name came to be? As there is no red? Decent looking polyp..though and good luck

Its the red ring in the center of the polyp where for some appears orangish. It is odd though where the purple and blue hornets are named by the polyps base color where as the "red" hornet is named by the ring color.
