Hello

I was on vivid aquariums website and saw the red line wrasse. It searched it on google and saw nothing close to it. Also didnt see it at my lfs's. Does it exist? Has anyone had one or know someone who has. What is it like? I like it but would want to know more about it before I concider it closer for one of my livestock.

Thanks to all.

Halichoeres biocellatus goes by the common name of redline wrasse sometimes. If that is what it is it is a smaller Halichoeres that is pretty safe in reef. It is usually safe with cuc, is a good predator of coral pests, and is peaceful.

They also show up frequently on LiveAquaria. I think that whoever assigns the name gets a little careless and red line wrasses wind up as several species fitting a general description. I've had mine through LiveAquaria for over a year and as mentioned is a happy and healthy fish that hunts and eats and doesn't bother anyone, and seems reef safe despite the label "with caution"

Looking at their page it shows H biocellatus but I didn't read the info after focusing on the feed 4-6 times a week, which I don't agree with.
I have kept one for several years and find them an ideal species. They are hardy, active and stunning.

Very much considering ordering one of these guys in the next week or two. For QT purposes going to do the standard TTM with a couple rounds of prazi pro. I assume a small container of sand in the QT would be good for them to sleep in?
