I've had my red people eater for nearly a month now, it's a small colony of about a dozen heads.. I feed it twice a week and it's doing great! There are even a couple of bahy bulbs coming out... This evening, a couple Of the heads folded out on themselves... Why is it doing that??
My water parameters..
P.h- 8.1
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
Salinity-1.025

Sorry, I hardly can see what's in the picture.
Could be many things…
Please give us the info about your system and post a better pic if you can.
Looks like the color isn't so vibrant. Perhaps the light?

Sorry, the camera on my tablet isn't that great, I will try to get better pics..
My system is a 37 gallon marineland tank, the coral looks the same now as when I got it.. We have zoanthids at my work that are under really good lighting and I've seen them doing the same thing..
My lighting consist of 40 white l.e.d.s and 3 blue l.e.d.s.. It's what came with the tank setup

Please post the pics and if possible pics of the light too.
The more info the better.
Params? Ca, alk, Mg, NO4, PO4,...
Skimmer?
Maintenance schedule?
Description of what's going on? Do they look like umbrella?
Name of the fixture? How many watts per LED?
Etc..

That way we can try to help you.

First post says that "...couple Of the heads folded out on themselves…"
I would think when the hermits or others from the "cleanup crew" bother the ploys they would fold inwards. I think something else is going on, but could be many different things.

Oh ok... Saw the picture and didn't see any heads folding out, saw something in the back of the colony that looked like closed heads and figured that's what the question was.

Anyway... All my people eater do the same thing, they start great and end up getting puffy as if they are about to explode or as you say folding out, tried Vitamin C and getting better results.

That's because you feed them a lot! :)
I target fed my zoas. They look like that sometimes because of the feeding.
