Red Planet

oh Id say its around 5" in width, and 7" in length... the base encrusted almost 15" across the wall, and sprouted from there so.... ya...it started in the middle and has grown outwards and upwards into the tank display...

Even though RP is a common acro, I still believe it is a beautiful piece. A bright RP willl be the first coral that everyone sees in a tank.

Isn't it funny in this hobby...... when you start out you're saying "GROW...GROW". After a few years you're saying "SLOW DOWN"...couple more years it's...."STOP ALREADY WILL YA"....!!!!

outssider +1

I always say at some point a coral hits critical mass and starts to grow in leaps and bounds

My two Red Planet colonies have various degrees of green.
The one that sits higher up has only some green on the base.
The colony that sits lower has a bit more.

I would like my colonies grow a little faster, but not that fast.

Thanks, its definitely taken off after what felt like a year of encrusting... its slowed a lot but still spreading...

When it was still growing there was a lot of green. not so much anymore... i think its too close to the lighting.

awesome growth!

I just got a frag recently. Don't know if anyone had the same experience, but the frag was pretty much completely white when I got home. It was about 20 minute drive from where I got it from, it was already kinda white when I got it, but seller told me that was normal with RP frag. I did remember seeing some polyp still, which I thought was strange at that time. But in a couple weeks, tissue has returned and it started to get the red/green color again.

The new growth on RP is white, not when it encrusts but when it shoots off new branches, but colors up soon after. You may have gotten a frag of the white new growth.
