Red Robin Stag

i started off with two frags.......
One seems to be a true and other other looks more likely red plant with green base......is it normal for a red robin stag to look like that??

I've had a small entrusting piece of it and it's never shown any green at all for me under t5's.

my lfs has the red robin placed in two spots one right under a 250w 14k the other on a shaded ledge the one on the shaded ledge has a green base under high light its all red the reason i asked him is cause i thought it was a diffrent acro

I was only able to get a small 1/2" nubin last fall....it's a slow grower to this point today. Fully encrusted the plug and rock rubble it was placed on. Now starting to grow up, finally. Sorry for the bad pic.

It likes to set a good base down...No green for me.

Beautiful coral and photo Mark. Wish it grew a little faster so mine would look like that. How large is your colony and can you give specifics on what it started as and how it grew over years?

Thanks, My colony has been chopped down over the years as I've had similar pieces in my tank. Once it takes off, it grows pretty well, but like I said, It likes to encrust a good base. Mine has always done well in good flow and higher light.

Which LFS did you see it? I have a frag from an LFS that has 2 in his tanks also.
Mine is under 250w 14k HQI and it has quite a bit of green. It's at the top 1/3 of the tank.

Mine had green at the base as well. I placed mine high in the tank under 250w radiums with vho actinics. I bought the Red Robin from Emmett Hood of Hpcorals.com. I lost my coral last year to low Alk from a bad test kit. I think Emmett lost his too but I don't remember how. If anyone wants to sell a frag PM me please. lol
