red sea berlin clasic skimmer

i recently got this skimmer for free and i was wondering if any one did the mods to it.
1:removed the center tube
2:replace venturi with a kent venturi
3:remove venturi altogether and use a pump and run a air line to it and run it that way.
i have a ca 2100 pump to it rated at 800gph and the original venturi in the skimmer and it started to foam up in the first hour or so its only been running a day so far maybe give it some time before trying these mods let me know.

I use the same skimmer and pump it works well is the small plastic divider in the tube mine was missing
