Red Sea Coral Pro mixing????

I've swapped salt brands for IO to Red Sea coral pro and so far I hate it. I can't get the mix to stabilize. I use a spectra pure rodi. A hydra to mix in a 5 gallon bucket. I through in 2 1/4 cups fresh outta the rodi turn the pump on for about 45-60 mins and then check salinity. Reads 1.025-1.026 every time. Turn the pump off. Pour it into a 5 gallon jug I store the water in. Usually store for 1-2 days. Check salinity before a water change and it reads 1.030. Ummmmm WHAT?!?!

I rinse my storage containers after every use. I don't run a heater when mixing. I live in south Alabama and my garage temp and water temp is usually in the upper 80s this time of year. I store the jugs inside next to the tank and the temp in the storage container at the time of my WC is around 76-78. Tank temp is set to 78.

Am I missing something here? Am I not mixing this stuff right. I've never had a problem with IO.

Another side note. Right after mixing, the salt mix reads an alk of 12-13. I've never tested it at the time of WC but I can if need be for more input

What are you using to test the Salinity and is it calibrated with a standard solution of any kind?

Just re read the original post, did you say you water is in the upper 80's, is it coming out of the tap that warm?

Hi and ty for the replies. I will get exact temp readings the next batch of water I make. Might be tomorrow. And yes the temp out of the tap is pretty warm. I mix in the garage. Here in south Alabama the tap is pretty warm. Heat index here gets in the low 100s. After I mix the water I bring it inside the house and it takes about a day to bring it down to around 77-78 degrees.

I will post temp readings as soon as I can. If not tomorrow then in a few days. Thanks again for the replies.

One other thing I would like to add. The salt mix doesn't mix to clear water. The water stays cloudy. I didn't notice this with IO salt. I've also noticed a light film of algae on the glass of my tanks since I started using Red Sea.

Before I change back over I just wanta make sure it isn't something I'm doing causing me my own headaches.

I live in south Alabama and mix my water in the garage. RO/DI is mixed with salt and then stored inside my house. I use an ATC refractometer and IO Reef Crystals salt. I do not experience the salinity swings eventhough the temp where I mix is much higher than where the water is stored.

Hope this helps as the only thing I see that is different is the kind of salt you use.

I didn't think the swings were from temp. I'm thinking of switching back to IO. Thanks for the reply. And how are you loving these cooler mornings?!?! TY JESUS!

Ok. Update on water temps. I mixed some salt late last night. Water temps were 80. This morning I woke up checked the temps again and they were at 77. Salinity rose .002. I'm thinking I'm not cutt out for Red Sea and have made my mind up to switch back to IO. Ty for all the help and replies. Much appreciated
