Red Sea Max 250 Skimmer

HI New to this have had my tank for just under 2 years can not find the thread I saw on this. I have a Red Sea 250 tank I am very unhappy with the skimmer. From the word go I had micro bubble issues and it has always been very difficult to adjust the thing and make it work.
My tank parameters are good except for the waste, I thought perhaps not enough filtration so I added an external filter and UV steriliser as well as chillier in a loop as there is only one single outlet in and out.
This made little difference to the water so now its down to the skimmer. The bubbles are white and if I do manage to get it to skim by adjusting it 20 times a day what is in the cup is not smelly dirty only slightly green it used to be dark green and very foul smelling. I am now changing the water almost weekly as I don't know what to do next.
Does anyone know if Red sea has a updated more efficient skimmer that would fit? :debi:

Are you using the foam inserts that came with the kit? They are often the cause of micro bubbles. You don't need them - I suggest removing them for good.

The skimmer actually works fine but it is finicky & needs to be set up correctly. Do you have an ATO? That's the secret to success. This skimmer needs a constant water level at all times to work correctly.

There are many variations on how to set the weir, water level, & air adjustment for good operation. All three must be coordinated. Make sure the skimmer line is sucking air & is not clogged.

We changed the original skimmer to DelTec MC 500 and it works really well and more quiet than the original.
