I just bought and used this test kit. I have tested the tank 5 times now and have yet to see this so called " pink" color that the video says ill get. Everytime I test it goes from light blue, to dark blue, to green, then finally yellow.

Anyone else have this kit and is/was having this problem?

Thanks

I have seen posts with identical problems posted somewhere - didn't see a resolution though.

Suggest you post in the Red Sea section of this board.

I haven't used Red Sea kits in ages, so I agree that checking in the Red Sea forum might be your best bet.

I've seen both sides on many sites now. Some get the yellow others go from a purple to pink. I emailed Red Sea to see what they say. I'm sure they will come back saying its my fault but we will see.

i dont know what is up with the red sea vid. It looks pink, he says pink, but if you look at the card he has, it is orange.

I just went through the same thing with this test. I contacted Aviad from Red Sea. And via pm and email we worked through it. They sent me a new reagent and all is good in the world. I recommend contacting them

if the card shows orange, why is everyone concerned with pink? Furthermore, its a titration, regardless of color, you are looking for the change. No?

Well, if the end result is an unexpected color, the problem might be that the test kit has failed. For example, a dye might have deteriorated. That's one possible issue. If the manufacturer says it's okay, I probably wouldn't worry too much.

Well with my API kit it says I'm at 9 with the Red Sea kit when it turns yellow at 8.5 so I guess I could just live with it being yellow.

and i would trust the red sea over API any day of the week. look at the instruction card that came with the kit, it clearly shows blue and orange as start and end.

BTW. For the original Pro Alk test kit (blue goes to red) the true end point is the neutral grey shade just before it starts to turn pink. Stop at the first colour that shows the slightest trace of pink. The bright red colour shown on the quick reference card is the colour of a massively over titrated test. Not very helpful in the slightest!
