I have heard that the Red Sea can only be collected a few times a year. I was wondering if you knew when the next season opens.

Shipments residing from the Red Sea have changed quite a bit over the last year or two, and the quantity and species diversity from this region of the world is no where near what it used to be.
As far as I know there is not a "season" when marine life can be harvested out of the Red Sea, but the ban on collection in Saudi Arabian waters has made it very difficult to obtain endemic species that used to be prevalent in the aquarium trade.
There is continuous collection out of Yemen and Eritrea (African country that borders the Red Sea to the East, the Sudan in the West, and Ethiopia in the South). Currently all of the Red Sea fish entering the US reside primarily from these two export countries. There is normally very limited species diversity as they tend to focus their efforts on the key target species such as Purple Tang, Sohal Tang, Desjardini Sailfin Tang, Semilavatus Butterflies, Asfur Angels, and Maculosus Angels.
I hope this answers your question, and helps better explain the limited quantity of Red Sea fish in the marine aquarium trade as of late.
