I just got this Red Stalked Dendro today. Supposedly it's rare compared to the peach/orange stalked Dendro corals. I hope it's a fast grower!

Nice! I loved my dendrophyllia colony, that is until a worm infestation wiped it out. I plan on getting some more, but I'm gonna buy some treatment before I do in case I get the same problem again.

I was wondering where did you get it from? I've been trying to find this for a while now...

xsiborg, I got my particular colony from "Ocean in a Box" online eBay auction.

The ones from Roe's are doing fine right now. It's only day 7 though. Opened up nicely. One had some crud on it but came off easily with a toothbrush. They are beautiful. Tried to post a pic but I am having trouble.

Well, every tank has worms...

This particular infestation was clearly a parasite/predator of Dendrophyllia. The worms were about a half millimeter in length and were a bright yellow color. They settled in little colony like groups.

On a happy note, I have a bunch of new baby dendro heads that have sprung up on the skeleton left behind. I think it must be some sort of defensive strategy. The worms die once they have eaten all the dendro flesh, and the baby dendros can then grow in place.
