Red String Algae in Nano Cube HELPPPP

I have a problem with red string algae. Been fighting it now for 4 weeks.. not luck.. what else do I need to do?? (I am lost and about to give up!!)

I have added another powerhead for flow and directed it in the area where it is growing the most. Still no help. Tank is a 24g Nano Cube with nano skimmer. Nitrates less than 5 nitrites all 0 PH running around 8.3 (too high?) Always use R/O or Distilled water for weekly changes and tanks been set up for over a year. I've been sucking all the junk out when I do water changes and skim the sand where it's at the most. (hard to get all of it off my rocks though) I have mostly blue legs and a few red legs left. Temp stays a little high at around 83 ( I have the cooler to add to the top just haven't installed it yet.. haven't had time) Lights are on timer and the more I run them.. the more of this crap I get. (had to turn the timer down but corals are looking PUCKY! Not opened well at all.) Any suggestions appreciated!! HELPPP

Thanks... I think it may know where it started now that I have read everyone's replies to my threads and other threads... from my LFS that I usually get water from. That tells you that not always the cheapest is the best and you probably get what you pay for. So off the the other fish store to get my water from now on. It started right after the last time I bought water from the LFS and I haven't been able to get it stopped yet. I added more water flow, (another pump) watched my light time, and also changed water like every 3 days when it first started and all it did was get worse. I only have 2 fish.. *(a blue damsel and a domino) only fed them what they would eat then stopped. I have a pretty good clean up crew until this started and now I have noticed that some of them have died. Not sure why... but it sounds like a culpurt of bad water! So no more water from there.. I'll eliminate that possibility!

Any other suggestions?

Its not the water. I have several tanks set up and have used the same natural water but recently, I set uo a 24 nano with stock lighting and I am getting that red string algae. Never had it before in any other tank with the same water!

P.S: a water change seems to have mitigated the problem although I am still using the same water, NSW.

My tank is just getting out of its initial algae stages and I had a problem with phosphates. I had cyano everywhere, after a couple weeks of sucking it up and adding powerheads I gave up. removed all of my corals to my 10 gal and run the lights for 6 hrs a day and added some phosphate remover in to the hob filter. 4 days later almost completely gone. I did a water change of 2 gals and the next morning it had started again. Checked the distilled water I was using and it had a phosphates in it. When I did the initial check 2 months ago it didn't have any.
