Red Trachy Vs Green trachy

Hi All,
I bought a red and a green trachy about the same time.

In the 5 -6 months since I bought them the green trachy has trebbled in size, shows a good feeding response and is constantly inflated.

The red shows a poor response, is withdrawn against the skeleton and is starting to lose its red colour. They are next to each other.

Do red trachys need less light and is too much light the obvious cause?
Thanks.
Jon

I have not owned any green trachy's, but I have a red. I have to keep it shaded under an overhang otherwise it does exactly as yours is doing. This is with 250mh's (radium) and 4 banks of 54w t5's (blue plus and purple plus). 24" depth aquarium.

I have a red and it is also under an overhang. Mine is at bottom of tank 20" deep under 6 x 24w T-5's

I had a red trachy under 150w MH and it began to bleach and loose tissue. Move it to a low light and low flow area (like a corner of the tank) and feed it every couple of nights. Over time mine has come back and now it looks great! Don't give up!
