this is a pic of the glass drilling set up i have been working on i borrowed a magnetic drill press from a friend. i first wanted to put a peice of metal on the other side of the glass and use the electromagnic to keep the drill in place. the half inch glass was too thick. the magnet would not hold the drill. i put two peices of metal down and i am going to use some wooden blocks to clamp it in place. this will hold the drill steady to drill the holes in the tank. i did not post this on the diy board because they would flip out. i know it looks bad but i think it will work. as long as it keeps the drill from skating around.

i hope this is not tempered i cannot find a brand name on the tank to check with the manufacturer. Roy i belive this is your old tank via fkdenton if you know let me know.

I think it is a topfin tank. I think its from petsmart. If you need/want help let me knw and I will be there. If you want to add any smaller holes I have a new 45mm holesaw

well four holes down. the rig worked great i did not try very long to do it free hand but i can not imagine it being any easier. i was able to pull the drill up and let the bit get water in the middle and set it back down in the exact same hole every time. i have two more holes to drill in the back for the closed loop intake. i will do them tommarow hopefully.
