redtop's Ferduino controller

maybe I should just stay with 20 & 21 like Marc showed me I just need it for the graph's
my reactor takes care of the trace stuff

you only need to change the RTC if you plan to use the PCF8575 port expander, it needs the 20,21 pins

other than water changes what does the PCF8575 do I looked back a the fist page of this thread and it seems it does not really do a lot but add extra pins for use later

Do I need to remove pins from my TFT LCD mega shield V 2.0 its the white one redtop03 posted am using SD on Ethernet card and a 8 inch cable to extend the lcd off the stack

the way the pins are numbered, you'll need the PCF8575 for the timers and a solenoid valve that Fernando used for his RO/DI control, everything else has pins on the Mega, or you could rename your pins and only use what you need and only add the port expander if you really need the extra pins

yes, follow the link Fernando posted above for a much better explanation of what to do with your tft shield pins

ok pins removed and I have the PCF8575 all ready soldered up so might as well use it have plenty of room

I will be using the PCF8575 so Marc do I just need to move the set of 2 pins down to the next set of 2 pins ..and do I need to any thing with JP1 and JP2

I have the Ethernet shield on top of the screw shield and I have pins 10,11,12,13, bent out so they don't get connected from the Ethernet to the screw and I have a wire soldered from pin 10 going back to pin 53 on the arduino

looking good so far

They sort of line up with the actual pins on the arduino move them to the left two sets depends on how you are looking at it did you remember to put the jumper wire on the back side

I did put the wire on the bottom I will look at it soon have to go for pre surgery peek and poke bbl

can you snap a quick photo of that jumper wire connected ? I don't see the black marks on my board :D

Trying to use pins 18 and 19 for time on the new screw shield and cant get them to work I have the jumpers on JP 1 and JP 2 and on the set of pins below the ones in the picture for pins 20&21 any ideas ??

just checked I am getting continuity on all the pins so there is no shorts

are you sure your RTC is functioning properly ?

I know the tft shield kit I purchased from Itead with the built-in RTC, I never could get the RTC to work on it, I just assumed I overheated the 1307 chip when soldering it up

I ordered the 1307 chip for this screw shield too but I really like the newer RTC better for it's extreme accuracy

this screw shield is an excellent idea and will be extremely helpful for my tinkering and since the RTC accuracy isn't really a concern for this anyway, I'll likely use it for just my tinkering
