Reduce Phosphate with Water Changes

I have a high reading on my Phosphate levels. (.25 ppm) It's because I was using tap water.....yes I know. I have an RO/DI unit now.

I was wondering how aggressive I can be with my water changes to get them down? 5%, 10%, weekly, daily, etc.

You likely could do 15% daily with very little risk, although I personally think that's a lot of effort and salt. I might try using some GFO, which will bind the phosphate.

I agree. Note that a 50% water change won't necessarily result in a 50% drop in phosphate because a substantial amount may be bound to calcium carbonate surfaces, and it can come back off again as you try to drop the levels. :)

Ok thanks for the replies. I have some Phosguard in my sump and I'll continue to do some water changes to see if I can get it down.
