when doing water changes, you remove PO4, nitrates, and re-establish alk, ca and magnesium levels as well as trace elements. Also, more water changes will help to lighten your corals. If you have ever done a series of water changes, like 2 or 4 in a week, you probably notice that the corals start to get lighter if you keep doing it.
Reducing the amount of Zooxanthellae can be realized by gradually increased lighting, or reduction of Nitrates and Phosphates.
I would rather try it this way then use ZP2.
