Reducing the white my lights put out...

What bulb do I need to help reduce the white look my new T5 fixture puts out. Do I need a higher K rating? They are the standard actinic/daylight bulbs supplied with Current USA fixtures. Any help would be great.

14k is a pretty good balance of blue to white, but if ur after a quite blue look then you could go with a 20k

How many bulbs does your fixture hold? T5's have so many bulb combinations it can be confusing on which ones to buy. You really don't want to buy 1 color of bulb to fill the whole fixture.

Here is what I have in my 5 bulb setup.

ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic
GE 6500k
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue Spec.

Bulbs 1,3,5 are on one switch and 2,4 are on another so I can setup a dusk to dawn affect. Bulbs 2,4 come on 15 minutes before and after 1,3,5.

Hope this helps,
Terry

Terry, where do you purchase your bulbs? I do have an 8 bulb fixture. Switched 4 and 4.

Any Suggestions on where I can purchase online?

I've bought my online bulbs and actually bought my TEK T5 fixture itself online from ReefGeek. I have always had a perfect buying experience from them.

Good News: Linky to the answers to all of the questions you have asked.

Bad News: The thread has split several times and I don't even know how many pages there are in the entire thread.

If you have the time, the T-5 Q&A thread really is a good read though. I would guess that the Grim Reefer has discussed every possible fixture several times in the thread. It talks about all the different brands of bulbs and what color combo in what position to use for different "colors".

I will also third the Reefgeek suggestion. Greg is very good to deal with and could help validate your bulb choices for you. Plus, you get free candy with your order...

Candy? I didn't get any candy..... Hmmm creepy...

No stale starburst? You apparently need to spend more money there before you get on that list.

Heck no...

All I got was what I ordered and at a fair price, I feel so cheated... :p
