So I'm getting my reef angel tomorrow and I wanted to ask some of you locals
About your experience with yours. I'm just starting basic for now with the plus with Wifi and the Wp40 cables but wanted to know if you have had any reliability issues?

The coding is going to be like learning Chinese for me but I think over time I should be able to get it down..

I've read some less than stellar reviews on reliability online but not sure if thy were just growing pains or if it's a common issue. So if you have of had the reef angle please let me know::/

Are you happy you chose it?

Do you wish you went another way?

And if you consider yourself an expert in all RA I might need to pay you for advice if I can't figure it out :) J/K.....kinda lol.

I know the forums are great and I should be ok just wanted some local reinforcement that it's a great a product as its set out to be.

The only problem I've ever had was when I did not have the cables hooked up tight when I set it up. Once I sorted that out I have not had a problem since. Going on about a year now I think.

I do have my RA under my tank now and plan to move it before too long. I think the humidity under the tank is probably a prime source of problems with any electronics.

Are you happy you chose it? Do you wish you went another way?

Absolutely. No regrets what so ever. In fact, many times I've thought that I'm glad I didn't go a different route for my controller.

I wouldn't say expert but I can help if needed. I'm in Oakley and a little far away from you however. You will find that the RA forum will be a great source for assistance and you will be OK.

Enjoy!

Thanks we spoke thru PM a few months ago and you helped my decision to get it. I was actually going to contact you again to let you know I did go with it and if I needed any minor help.

I'm goin to pick it up tomorrow and my new build should be up in the next few weeks and I'm sure I will need a little help. I am totally lost already but I downloaded the software and the user guide/tutorial and am just gonna take it slow at first and keep it simple. Then when I'm comfortable and get more modules then the real head scratching will begin ha ha.

Have you had any issues with your probes?

Is there anything I should get that I might need I'm guessing an extra temp probe at least. There is 3 ports for temp right? I'm thinking of getting 2 to monitor sump as a redundancy type thing.

Thanks for the reply.

PM me if you need help and I'll send you my cell number. I would pick up the two extra temp probes and extensions (unless you're comfortable making your own). You're going to use the two dimming ports for your WP40s so you probably don't want to pick-up the moonlights unless you're getting a PWM add-on too.

The probes are not the best but use the one that comes with it then replace it with something better when/if it goes out. As long as you keep it submerged and you're gentle with it you should be good. I haven't had a problem with mine so far.

I can't think of anything else you need other than that.

Thanks I will. It will be at least a week+ but I appreciate it.

I'm amazed that not a lot of locals are running this local product. Maybe it's just too early in the thread but I'm surprised.

I have a reefangel.

Problems:

1. There is a lot of automatically resetting of the head unit. Just be sure all the connections and wires are in good standing, and you move the head unit away from major magnet and electronic sources. Keep the head unit far from the other outlet boxes if you can.
2. There is stray voltage coming from the ato unit. This will cause your ph probe to read incorrectly if it sits in the same water the ato is reading from.

I wish I bought the plus version. I can't set the unit to standard ato or use any randomized wave maker settings without going over the memory limits.

I didn't get extra probes. I got the wifi.

I'm very happy with the support and the unit. You get a lot for what you pay for.

Cool thanks for the info. I just picked it up today and I'm excited.

As for the ATO I'm gonna continue to use my tunze ATO as its awesome as is. But good to know thanks.

I got the plus unit ,wifi and extra temp probe for now.

Just a general question to all I am gonna try to run the whole unit inside a cabinet next to the tank only problem I see is having the cables long enough for the probes.. I'm thinking of just putting the head unit on the stand and all the rest in the cabinet along with my ATO reservoir and controller. Should work right? I guess if I have to extend the cables that should work or just buy longer ones as they are pretty universal. Hopefully the plugs to my equipment will reach so I don't have to put the relay box under the tank.

Where do you guys have yours? Headunit, relay box and modules. I'm guessing around water is gonna shorten the life a little as said above.

We will see if it works out.

Thanks for the reply's

I have mines (relay, head unit, etc) in my sump area in the stand. When I get the chance, I plan to move it out of there.

You can always buy off-the-shelf extension cords/wires. Robert will even tell you where and what you should get.
