Reef BioFuel to replace vodka dosing ?

Ok I'm new to this hobby and going to setup a frag tank, What would be the products I need to start with?

bio-fuel with this Microbacter7?

thx for any info.

5ml for 50g is probably a comparable vodka dosage.... If you are looking for a more concentrated source of organic carbon, ZeoStart2 is much more concentrated.... Most of the people are dosing .2ml per 100g......

Different organic carbon forms may be more usable than others.... But I can buy a lot more organic carbon in the form of vodka for cheaper than this. I'm sure though its a quality product Brightwell seems to be doing things right...

5ML for 50gal? That seems like an awful lot of vodka to dose daily.
 
I am going to see if I can get my hands on some Reef biofuel today and then start it asap ..... will let you know what I think.
 
I'm interested to see where this goes. I want to use a system similar to Zeo on my 34g SPS tank, but measuring out the tiny doses for such a small system would drive me crazy. Also, Zeo isn't cheap either. If this seems less concentrated yet still effective, then it would be a great alternative for my situation.
 
SeaChem has a new line of products under the AquaVitro name. I have been using some of them, good results. I just started to use their "fuel" and I will check back in awhile for the results. The only bad thing about the new line, is it is on;y available at LFS's, not online. It's $10 a bottle.

the fuel stuff by seachem looks like some kind of food for corals?

would using the microbacter7 and biofuel lower nitrates and phosphates like vodka? im ready to try this stuff out for my FOWLR since i feed the fish a lot to keep them healthy. would like to hear more opinions on this stuff before i try it out
 
just purchased the reef biofuel and microbacter 7 today

what experiences did anyone have who used this? less film algae, lower nitrates/phosphates, or brighter colors and better health of corals????
 
I just switched from the vodka to BioFuel after seeing another guy drop his nitrates to zero with it. I have a fairly new and low stocked tank so we'll see where it goes. I've been logging my dosing daily to see exactly what point my nitrates bend. Phosphates are already at zero

Forget those dosing instructions. Cris has adjusted it downwards since the packaging of the products. He should have a full Bacterial driven/zeolith system out shortly.

What would be a more realistic recommended dosage, then?
 
I have been using the Fuel by AquaVitro for about a week now. I can honestly say that I had a colony of polyps that for whatever reason just haven't opened for a month, and even started dying back. After 2 doses of this tuff all the polyps started opening. All my coral are now opening biger longer and color is looking very nice on some of the pieces. All in all, Im very happy.
 
Does anyone know how effective this product is compared to Prodibio? I've had great results with prodibio and vodka on a 50 gallon tank but the combination just doesn't seem to be cutting it on my 150 gallon. Maybe Biofuel and Microbacter7 will do the trick?

It's a non-flammable alternative. I'll give you some suggestions on what it might be; a sugar base or less than 50% ethanol by volume. It does the exact same thing as vodka but is more expensive. So I'll say no, I don't see it replacing vodka.
 
I would love to know if anyone has any updates using biofuel? Or if anyone can chime in on their dosing regimen w biofuel
