Reef Books for Sale (Local)

I've been a member of the club in the past, but haven't been around too much lately because my two little kids are keeping me busier than I ever would have dreamed possible. Anyway, I'm clearing some room off the bookshelf and have the following books for sale. I've posted things for sale on Reef Central before, and people from the club have asked me to post here first to give local people a chance before posting on the main for sale boards. So I'll leave this up here for a week or so before I list whatever remains in the main for sale forum.

All of these books are in "like new" condition. I take very good care of my books and I'm really gentle with them, so most of these are probably indistinguishable from new in almost every respect. The only exception is "Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium" because I ordered that from Premium Aquatics along with a tub of Phosban, and the cover has a slight circular imprint from where the rim of the tub rested on the front of the book during shipping (that's just what you get with mailorder sometimes) - the inside of the book is still totally pristine.

I've listed the prices I found on Amazon and I'm asking for half of that retail price. You can PM or I'll check back to this post periodically, mostly in the evening (and reply to PMs in the evening as well). I'll do my best to keep things first come - first served. I live in West Knox (near Westland and Ebenezer) and work a little north of that (Lovell and Pellissippi) and you can pick up either place.

Thanks,
Brad Guilford

Looks like a good start on a club library. Perhaps the club can buy whatever is useful that individuals haven't already bought.

The club can have whatever reef books I've got too. I don't read that dang things anyways. I used to have ton of books that Joe Wall had given me, not sure if I still do or if I have already given them to someone.

I'll look later tonight.

I like the idea of a club library. Often you want a book just to flip through to get ideas but don't want to spend $40 on it.
IF we could do a library why not charge a small fee like $1 per book to check out. This money would go into a seperate account and someone who is a librarian of the club would keep track of who has it and the cash. When books go on sale at Dr.F&S or amazon the person buys a new book so the library grows.
The only problem would be how would the person get the book? Meetings or mail?

I suppose they would pick it up from the club librarian... You volunteering Mike??? ;)

If we have a club library, I'd say the librarian brings the box(es) to each meeting he attends (so it would have to be a regular).

So, Randy, what does the board say? Librarian and library on the list? What about the balance of the books above?

...or, to save his back, we make a list/link/pic of the books at our website and let people contact the librarian to bring those they want.

I think that's a better idea.

edit: his back?

Well since it was my idea I guess I would be willing to do it. I hate when people make suggestions for change/improvements and fail to do anything about it. It is the Monday morning quarterback syndrome.
Let me think about the situation/format etc. of the virtual library and see what I can come up with.
I guess if people want to donate books to the club's library I would house them. If people wanted to keep the books themselves such as the ones in this thread they could but if they wanted to make them available to other club members.
Would there be a rental charge in order to expand the library or would the membership fee cover it?
Just thinking as I type.

I sent PM's to Donny and Digidana regarding the books they requested. I've also decided to sell one more book:

Corals of Australia and the Indo-Pacific by J. E. N. Vernon, hardcover
new $52, asking $26

Thanks,
Brad
