I have noticed that that all the Experts that used to be on this forum have moved on...I wonder why? Have you noticed that we have been using this forum to find out what is going on with the LFS around here with no problems for awhile, which is better then driving wasting gas to find out if a specific LFS has the things we need. I have been on here awhile and have noticed that the moderaters here are hypocrites they only enforce rules when it suits them. Maybe A. Calfo and the other experts knew what they were doing when they left, their time is valuable and this place wasn't compensating them enough for their time but yet when we start talking about stuff at a LFS here the moderators complain because the LFS in question isn't paying them(RC) to be a sponser on here. I have seen too many new people here get flamed for asking questions that might seem stupid for a "reefer" but hey, their new what do you expect. I guess we didn't kiss butt enough here towards the moderators to keep them off our back, just look around read some of the threads and notice all the people kissing up to them and then not getting punished for flaming a newbie for asking a question, well I'm done I think I'll move on to the Marine Depot forum.

Could the LFS have a place on the club website for posting what they have new/available? I'm not sure I understand all this, I think there are a lot of people on the coral selling site that make a business of it. Maybe they don't give a business name but they ALWAYS have corals for sale. Karen

I'm more curious as to who the bitter person (reefstar) is that felt it so important to call the reef nazis in. Interstingly enough, PCP has done more for the OMS that ReefCentral has, and for free. There are a few hundred threads running in almost every club forum discussing who has what, and people trading and offering services that are overlooked. I can appreciate RC's stance on it (you use our site, you pay us) but I'm more petrubed by whoever it was that deemed it neccesary to register and report these threads (most likely creating a new account to do so with).

There is a plan in place to have a forum on the club web site. Give it some time to get everything finished with the site and I'm sure OSM will be happy to allow our lfs' to keep us informed as to what they have and what they are getting. I'm sure Jim will announce when the web site is ready for forum traffic.

Well, since the longest running thread on here has reached it's end I guess we'll need to start a new one. Our original intention on here was not for commerce, but rather for information available for the people using this forum, and have an LFS that was actively involved in a forum discussion on the keeping and availablity of certain livestock and equipment. I haven't really been on here for a while other than to let people know when a shipment was coming in, and for that I apologize. I have had too many other things going on lately and have lost focus on the discussions. I stepped into this forum for people to be able to talk to us and share ideas on how we as an LFS can or could better serve our saltwater community and make our LFS a facility that not only brought in new equipment and livestock, but also a place for people to gather and socialize. I will continue to support the OMS and Reef Central as an outlet for us to communicate and create awarness in our community...

If the website needs some software for the forum you guys should check out Phpbb. It's free and it works very well and is easy to set up. I maintain a forum for Infantile Spasms (a sever form of pediatric epilepsy) and I use this software and it is really nice. Here is a link to the forum, you won't be able to see messages becuase it requires registration but it will give you an idea of what can be done:

Thanks for the suggestion Mike. Jim is actually in contact with the person setting up the web site so I'm not sure if they need software or not, but if they do I'll pass on the info.

I think "Reefstar" is a disgruntled owner of the other LFS in town or someone who didn't get hugged growing up and was picked last during dodgeball.

Seems strange that a few hours before REEFSTAR2006 registered this discussion was taking place on the Sioux Falls Club Forum. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=908519
The discussion took a negative turn and it would not surprise me at all if someone from the sioux falls forum turned snake. If you read in the forum the members made several points about our lfs's posting on the site.
Just wish they would have thought of the reprucussions. Kinda like a toddler throwing a tantrum. If they can't have their way then go ahead and wreck it for everyone else?

Not to worry omahamarinesociety.com will be up soon, sorry for the delay but trying to coordinate my schedule and the web designers schedule for the final tweaks has been tough. Hopefully we can have it up within a week or so. there will be forums for the members and an area for the LFS to put up there info as well including commerce if they so choose. This should be a great tool for the shops that help us out so much and without the threat of pulling there links.

Huskrbill, I agree that there does seem to be a possible link between what happened to their forum and our forum but unless "REEFSTAR2006" actually comes out with who he/she is I dont want to point any fingers. If the threads violated the policy, they violated the policy regardless to how long we "got away" with it. I dont think either of the lfs intended to break the rules but it RC wants to be fair across the board they have to treat all of the forums the same. As for our friends up north I think our clubs have a good relationship (they just about out numbered us at our last meeting, lol) and I wouldn't want to wreck that over this. Like Jim said we will be able to have a forum on our new site soon that can include our lfs so this isn't really that big of a deal.
