Reef Dynamics 180 skimmer eco pump not making bubbles

I decided to clean skimmer and eco 1056 pump even though all was well. I pulled impeller with its customized needle wheel and cleaned. Put it all back together - pump is pushing water no problem but no bubbles! I've tried moving nylon white spacers and black rubber washers on impeller for different configs but hasn't made any difference. Sounds fine. Am I correct in thinking this pump should produce bubbles even by itself as long as it's emersed and air line is attached and drawing air? I've tried connected to skimmer and by itself. Any help is appreciated!

Hook up a good size air pump to the other side of the venturi-pump "draw" and that'll create bubbles for the pump in the mean time. I've got a few of my older venturi's running this way successfully. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it without cleaning it a ton / replacing the pump.

Thanks - sounds like a good work around. I should never have pulled the impeller as it was working fine!

I quit removing my impellers from my skimmers sometimes they pull loose from the shaft. I just sock the whole pump in vinegar and then run the pump in vinegar. To clean the venturi boil a pot of water place the airline tubing in the water and let the pump draw the water it will clean it nicely.

Yes lesson learned - I'm with you from here on. This one had multiple plastic spacers and rubber washers to make it a little more challenging to put back together.
