I am having trouble getting my reef filler pump to work. I can not get the prime started. The pump is about 20 feet away and 5 feet below my tank it is the 30 gpd model. I appreciate and suggestions on how to get it started.

Thanks Dan

Yes both ends are there seams to be a lot of air in the line. I can see the water move back and forth in the tub but it never makes progress.

Sounds like you have a stuck check valve or one that needs replacing. There will be checks on the suction and discharge of the head. Open them and inspect the ball inside of them to determine if they just need cleaning or replacing. Also be sure to clean the seat that the ball checks against.

I will definitely try that but this is a brand new unit. I will check it out and post results. Thanks

The symptoms you give points to the check ball being stuck. The suction and discharge must check on the diaphragm cycle to be able to work. Try priming it with a short tubing run on the suction just to make sure you don't have any leaks on the long tubing run. Prime at 100%.

Thank you will work on this over the next few day and let you all know how it works. I appreciate the answers

Dan
