So if I was to do only pairs of fish with like a trio of anthias and 1 large center piece fish which of the follow would be better and give reason why?
I will do a pair of Pygmy Angels (which ones?)
Pair of Tangs (if possible)
Pair of Butterfly Fish (thinking Pyramid)
Pair of Wrasses (thinking pair of Halichoeres and pair of fairy)
Trio of Anthias(which ones)
What else would yall think might go well in the tank?
I am debating on going BB or a 1.5" Sand Bed.
If I was only doing one angel pair and that's it, a pair of potters for sure. But I still think a pair of argis and a potters is cool. I think if added at once the three could do well. All additions have some risk of course.
For tangs if it's got to be two of the same, you're in a tough spot IMO. Not a lot of tangs like conspecs. Since you are a bit cramped you want relatively timid tangs, if you buy smart and get them small you get 2+ years before they really explode growth wise. Like I said I like the tomini cause it's pretty small. I have a tenneti that is just a easy going dude and will get larger but not as huge as many tangs.
Pair of butterflys, may be pushing it, but a yellow long nosed, or one of my favorites, if you could not tell by my current avatar, a heniocus would work as a single, the YLNB is over all a smaller fish if I am not mistaken and would take a long time to out grow your cube.
I really like yellow coris wrasses.
Anthias? It's Lyertails, bartells or dispar IMO a trio of either (unless you are up to some of the more challeging species) with a single flathead suburst, sweet!
... And a pair of Orchid Dottybacks! They are available as aquacultered, have zero impact on the ocean, little impact on your bioload, are way more mellow than any other dottyback (under statement), and are way cool. I can't promote them enough.
