Im wondering if this investment is worth it for me.

What id like to do:

Control My Nova extream pro on a timer.
Control 2 K4 powerheads on a wavemaker.
Make shure my heater does not overheat my water.
Ability to turn off all: Skimmer,Powerheads, and return to feed and do maintence at the same time.

ALso im wondering if I can add an extention wire from one of the plugs from the RKL so I can add another outlet but with the same features as the orginal outlet on the RKL.

For example, My light has 2 plugs- Can i add an extention wire to 1 outlet on the RKL to make room for both plugs from my light.

I cant afford other controllers because they are out of my price range, So that is not an option.

Thanks.

there are 4 ports

they can be set to do anything.
heater will work,

wavemaker, depends if you have the new K4s, old ones make a noise when restart ...

and yes, you can connect another extension to it, like if yu want the returen pump and skimmer and ... to all turn off at same time for feeding.

good little controller, might be usefulll for temp control, but other than that, 4 digital timers can do its job :) but again timers are 20 bucks each, so it would be 80 bucks, compared to 99, its worth it :)

Yes you can control 2 plugs with a splitter for lights. You should put them in the higher amperage ones (1&4). I have four lights that are paired up like this on mine and it has been working without a problem for 1 year.

I have one powerhead that is external from the controller in case it fails for some reason. It is a safety backup so there is at least some circulation.

You could do everything except maybe control the K4's. The RKL has wavemaker functions, but as I understand it Koralias can be temperamental with anything but a branded Hydor wavemaker. others may correct me.

The RKL has a standby feature, which would allow you to temporarily turn off specified equipment for a set amount of time for feeding, etc.

You could put a splitter on any of the plugs, say, if you wanted both the Nova Extreme plugs to power on/off at the same time. I use 2 separate timed outlets on my RKL for a dawn/dusk cycle.

The RKL is expandable, and can control up to four modules (at additional cost), totaling 16 independently controllable plugs. Note however, that 4 modules is the maximum regardless of type (so if you attach an SL1 module to monitor pH, salinity, ORP, etc. you'd only be able to attach 3 PC4 modules for 12 power outlets).

EDIT: Oh, and I really like my RKL :)

Is it possible to add in an extra PC4 powerbar thing to the RKL L1 in the future?

Can I add a SL1 and connect a float swich to it for an ATO.
Id like to have 2 float swiches one as a back up. Is this possible?

also Do have to buy the ones the Digital Aquatics sell or will any other electronic float switch work.. (may it need a certain type of connector to connect to the REEF keeper LITE).

Also will an SL1 handel a PH probe, Salinity probe, and 2 float swiches.

The RK Lite can take up to four modules, so for your application two PC4's and an SL 1 or SL 2. The SL's have two switch inputs on them, allowing you to use two switches for top-off or whatever.

FWIW, the float switch kit from Digital Aquatics costs about the same as if you went to the store, bought the floats, connectors and bracketry and tried to assemble it yourself. The molex connectors that mate to the SL's are very small and difficult to work with, and they require special tooling (@ $500) to crimp, so adapting any old switch is a bit of a task.

The SL2 is the one you want if you want to incorporate both pH and Salinity probes, as the SL1 is for pH and ORP.
