Reef Nutrition Mysis Feast

Just picked up a bottle of Mysis Feast the fish went bonkers for it. Best part no thawing stright from the bottle good stuff...

That product gets a thumbs down in my book. Id much rather thaw out regular PE mysis and feed my system. Reef Nutrition took all the "Nutrition" out of the PE mysis they used it. Frozen PE mysis has a protein count of 69.5%. Once thinned out by Reef Nutrition the protein count ends up at 6.5%. Thats a fail in my book. Ill take the extra time to thaw mine out if it means that much.

Mysis-Feast is also 69.5% protein as a percentage of biomass.

It's a difference in labeling. The frozen PE Mysis product is labeled as 69.5% of biomass (excluding) water. Our Mysis-Feast product is more closely following the recommended FDA labeling rules which require that the bottles list all ingredients as a percentage of total weight, not biomass, and water is a significant portion of both products.

Thanks for clearing that up Randy. I've often wondered about the huge difference in labeled protein content between two different forms of the same thing.

BTW, my sps are looking great after I started using Reef Nutrition products following your very informative lecture at our club last year. Thanks again.

I am actually waiting on a shipment of Reef Nutrition products to arrive at a LFS tomorrow. I was planning on buying at least one bottle of the Tigger Pods and Arcti Pods to bulk up a skinny Mandarin I bought a little over a month ago. He's gained some weight since being in my tank, but I'd like to really fatten him up. The LFS that is going to have them tomorrow has a 300DD and he dumps in a bottle of Tigger Pods and Rotifeast every month and his pair of Mandarin and Red Scooter Dragonets are so fat it's almost comical! All his fish are very healthy looking and are extremely active and have very bright coloration. His LPS in this tank is also amazing and looks extremely healthy. I plan on giving this stuff a shot so I'll report back to y'all after I try it out.

I have used Mysis Feast several times and as others claim the fish surely enjoy it. I don't mind paying a few extra dollars for the convenience! :)
