Reef octopus diablo 230

I have a diablo 230 and is a great skimmer,except the air muffler doesn't work to well.If I place my finger to stop the air it is dead silent,but remove my finger it is loud.Any suggestions on how to make it quiet.

Put some fiber filler material in it. Or open pore sponge

Ok just tried it,it helped some but is still loud.
