Hello,
This really depends on what volume each are rated for versus what is your application. If you have a high bioload, and your friends skimer is rated for more volume, then maybe give it a shot. I have never used, but heard really good things about the Diablo, and these days, many hold onto and replace pumps on skimmers that do well for them, as not much has changed in the body of skimmers, mainly the pumps. Might be a time to put a DC pump on that Diablo
