Hi,
I currently have a 58 gallon and a 20 high sump. If you plan to house a sump I'd definitely recommend the 150. I have the dnw 150 external. A couple things I want to make clear about this skimmer. The skimmer has european measurements. I had to buy a converter to switch to 1.5 inch pvc. The same place I bought the converter I picked up a gate valve. I'd have to say, hands down gate valve was the best thing I ever did. I've been running my tank for a little under a year now and after installing the gate valve yesterday (yes yesterday) I can easily see the difference in bubbles. With the gate valve there are just sooo many more bubbles than the stock stuff. 100% recommend this skimmer with a gate valve. I also run the skimmer through a maxijet 900. If I used the drain i'm sure I'd have even better skimmate. We'll see how it plays out this week but i'm forecasting some good skim by sunday.
Summary-
1. You will need a measurements converter (makes life easier)
2. You will need a gate valve (stock sux and ball valves are worse)
3. Run this from your drain may give you inconsistent water feed. If you plan to go this route make sure to increase your drain size for example if your using 1 inch drains increase it too 1+1/2 or even 2 inches to make a reseviour in order to make your drain water levels runn more consistently into the skimmer. Consistency(increased drain size), precision (gate valve) are the two big factors when using these puppies.
