Reef Putty?

Boostable

King Nothing!
I need to stick a piece of tile or clay pot on a rock. Seems like I remember reading about some putty? Is this stuff available locally or does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jack

Jack, I'm looking for some too...a few threads mentioned Aquamend as being available at HD, but I haven't yet checked.

If you are placing the tile for clowns to lay eggs on, use gel super glue. That way you will be able to easily remove the tile when they lay on it.

Thanks for the info, I was not sure how easy it would be to get off if I did it that way, but I guess that would work... Gota get it in there in the next day or two.

Thanks,

Jack

I use this stuff from Two Little Fishes called grey epoxy. I get it from my friend's store up north. I have about 3/4 of a stick left, how much do you need?

I just need enough to stick a piece of tile to a rock.. maybe quarter/half dollar size.. Does it stay plyable?

I would just take dugg's advice if that's all you need. I use it for holding my LR in place. But if you still want some I work on Lee Rd you can pick it up tomorrow if you want. Let me know.

Jack, I used the aquamend and it works great - very solid. It stays pliable for about 5-10 minutes. It's probably a good thing to have on hand even if you don't need it right now.

When useing the putty, do you just mix it apply it to something outside (such as a tile) then stick it to the rock inside the tank? Or do you have to remove the rock and let it cure outside for a min? I have some zoos on a disc that keep getting knocked off. I'm not going to move the rock, and if I don't have to, I might use it.

I used it to stick my frog spawn down, I took it out, let sit for a min, if you can dry the part your trying to stick with a paper towl holds better, then put it back in the tank. I had to lay it on the bottom of the tank for a day ( no stress on the epoxy ) stuck well tho. Good Luck.

It states that it is "better" to try and have dry surfaces, but it does say that you can secure it underwater. Fortunately, I was securing 2 pieces of base rock so they were both dry.
Ricanboy, I would take the zoos out and secure it to their plug and then hold the entire thing underwater pressing firmly against the rock.
