Reef Raft NorCal

I've been in the Bay Area for 6 months now and have been so disappointed in all the stores out here, compared to what was available in the DC area.

Reef Raft is the first store I have actually really liked and been impressed with; it definitely tops the Elos store in New Jersey.

That is great to hear from someone who has visited stores nationwide! I was just blown away by not only the amount of corals they had but the quality!

This is now my main stop for Dry goods... also my main spot for corals too! Offerings are much better than any other near by LFS. Staff is really friendly/knowledgeable.

I agree, every times i hit that store never come out with emty hand

They carry Jabao pumps and wave makers don't they? I was there the day after the grand opening so things were a little picked over but will be heading back this weekend.

Reef Raft NorCal

They carry a lot of stuff, I want to say I saw some Joeaboe pumps there. I just bought an Apex Lab for eBay price from Reef Raft, among a lot of other stuff.

They have earned my business for dry goods for sure, as not only are their prices as low as you can possibly ask, and they sell the high end items we all love too, but their livestock is full of quality pieces. Staff has been really friendly and helpful. Anthony is knowledgable, Johnathan knows his stuff, and Lisa bent over backwards practically to help me out on a couple situations.

That awsome,i love that:dance:

Anyone know if they carry test kits there? I need to buy a kit to test my CA ALK AND MAG

Anyone recommend a certain brand?

Baja Reef has some good fish selections, especially a new very cool sailfin blenny I haven't seen before. They're only about 5-10 minutes away from each other, so even more of an incentive to go there since you can knock out two stores in one trip. :)

oh we missed this. Didn't know about this store until now. We shall visit this as well. Thanks. :)

Anthias died after 3 days of not eating. Probably was stressed too much by the fish handler at Reef Raft. Wife told me that the fish gill was caught on the net when the fish handler was transferring into the container after being chased for at least 5 minutes inside their holding tank.

She didn't tell me until i noticed that the fish was not eating after 24 hours in our tank. We have plenty of anthias and other fish inside a 100g tank, water params are in normal range, it's an isolated case.

Probably the fish handler wasn't trained enough to handle such delicate fish. Other than that, store looks great. We'd rather stay with Neptune since we're from San Jose, not worth back the trip for us. Maybe someday.

Picked up a ruby red scooter there yesterday for a very reasonable price and it was quite large with beautiful markings. Let's see how well he does.

I would not blame this on the "fish handler". Anthias can be super picky eaters when first introduced to a tank and their care level are considered moderate to difficult.
