Ok, here is my problem. There is only one LFS left in my city, and they dont really carry much for tanks. They also charge a whole bunch for them. So you guys know of any online stores that sell reef ready tanks? I am looking for a 75-150 gallon. I can't find anywhere.

Frieght is gonna cost you a fortune. It may even be more than what the lfs is going to charge you.

Regards,

Pat

The LFS only carries AGA, and they want $595 for a 75gal RR tank only..

I am pretty sure I can do better then that.

Check with your local commercial airlines. Maybe you can have a distributor crate it and stick it on a flight going to AK. Shipping might be more reasonable than LTL freight

Fareforce -- I picked up my 125 AGA RR for I believe it was $580 through The Reef. Animal House charges more for tanks, less for livestock. The Reef the other way around -- but they're relocating right now to the Sears Mall. Call them on their phone number and check on an order price. To AK, the freight will kill the deal on any tank.

Also check on ordering prices through Pet Warehouse and Petco. The Reef should be nice when they get reset in Sears Mall -- another few weeks based on what I saw there last week. We'll have 3 home grown and Petco soon enough... :)

Are you sure theres only one lfs? Certainly the one in the mall is still there and what about that sweet one with all the murals painted?

Oh, definitely the petco.

I am in Alaska, no city is close.. LOL

Alaska Reefer,
The Reef has a new owner now. It was one of the gals that worked there. It is still 3-4 weeks from opening, and I know she was going to raise prices some, but I dont know how much. Petco doesn't do larger tank, and I will check with PetZoo.. I forgot about that one. Thanks=)

You don't know anyone up here getting out of the hobby do you?

I know a few people up there. They aren't easy to get ahold of. I'll check for one. The reef. That is a cool shop.

I went there once with my boys. They were pretty good about measuring up their customers. But not too willing to work with people. I'm glad they sold it. :D I suppose they don't like getting fish back when people move away. I really can't blame them.

Hey, why not go for a road trip down to Juno(SP?)? If you've got the time in June sometime. Are the roads warming up yet? Bet they're just getting softer eh?

That is a cool place. You ever see snow sharks?:)

snow sharks?

I would love to drive to Juneau, but there is one problem.. There aren't any road to it. Plane and boat only. LOL

If you do happen to find someone up here that is selling a tank let me know!! At least 75gal RR! :)

i got my 70g with stand from www.glasscages.com for $290.00 the stand was $170.00, tank $120.00 i also live about 70 miles from them. they had tanks as large as 250g when i was there. its about 10,000 square feet of tanks and stands. the owners name is Tom, very nice man. the stand is really as stated solid oak, guess the weight about 120 lbs. the glass is low iron and was 3/8 thick. the tank was probably 160 lbs. shipping is through trucking line ive never heard. if you saw the road to the place you would trip, lol! its in the mountains/sticks. i dont see how a truck got there with a full size trailer, but there were two of them. good luck,REEF-ON!!!

Yah you got it. I never made it to Juno either. lol. Lets see...where else could you drive to. Hey, is it moose season yet? I'll bet it's just about time for them to start jumping onto the roads eh? Why not check out Wasilla? Do they have anything besides McDonalds? Just kidding. That was the only place I got to see. But my, what - a - view!

Snow sharks are what you tell small children to look for in the deep snow. It might keep them from getting into that really deep stuff. On the other hand, my two year old just went right in looking for them. "Snow sharks?" he said, "ah, I don't see them."
and he proceeded to loose a boot.

I'll see if I can get in touch with anyone.
