Hey guys,

I know many of you are always asking what Butterfly fish is reef safe.
Here is my pair:

What do you guys think?

They are in a 75G Full reef, SPS, LPS, Zoas, and softies and clams. No trouble with them, and they eat spectrum like little pigs!!

Kindest Regards,

Ha ha, actually you'll be suprised they only run about $40 each on average. They are an open water butterfly theirfor feed on plankton.

If you must have a butterfly in your reef I highly recomend this species. They are one of the safest butterflies for reefs, very easy to keep, and fairly inexpensive. The only drawback, is that they might be hard to find.

Kindest Regards,

Ya and I'm sure they cost next to nothing too :)

Zoster/pyramid B/F's aren't pricey....just not AS pretty as many others, but still attractive.

Lovely pair, JC.

I've seen Pyramids but I didn't think that they were in the same family. I personally don't think pyramids are all that attractive, but those don't look too bad.

Yes they are :) The yellow species is nice, but I personally love black and white fish :) Somthing about that crisp contrast. I just love how they devour spectrum, from day one!!

JC, they are cool fish. Too bad they started munching on some of your corals! Did you decide to leave them in your reef?

Heya Buddy!,

One of them has never touched anything, then when I went and bought the other one, he nipped at a green bubble corals feeder tentacle in the first hours when I put him the tank, after that he has never even looked at the corals again. And I sit there staring at them... it's been what a while already since we got them, havent seen any suspicious behavior(looking at rocks and corals) or nipping. I love these guys!!
