Reef safe Grazers (no blennies)

I am looking for a reef safe grazer that an go with a Midas Benny, disbar anthias, corris wrasse, and two clowns...


I have a 60 cube and the snails doo a horrible job on my return output and my frag plugs on the rack... They do well on the rocks...

from what I'm told, rabbitfish do real well. And if you're looking for something unique, mollies are also good algae eaters.

Kole Tang for that size tank. That's really all I can think of.

I would say thats too small of a cube for any tangs. Not necessarily the gallons but the length. A 60 gallon cube is only 2 feet long.

My tank didn't really have an algae problem so to speak, but the rocks did have places of a deep red wiry algae that looked like enkamat. After a couple of weeks after adding a small foxface, the algae is completely gone. I just added the foxface from a Live Aquaria - Diver's Den visit and they had many on hand at about 2-3 inches. My fish is doing extremely well and has a nice full body, healthy appetite and a mild temperament.
I would imagine a small foxface would really keep your frags clean as their snout can get into very tight spaces.
Just monitor their growth for your tank size.

The kole tangs that I have owned didn't really eat the algae that was already present, but they kiss the rocks and glass to help prevent more algae from growing.

I agree my tank is too small for the tang. Not sure I want to take the chance on a fox face and all my frags.

Don't see many places that sell the mollies

I would much rather put a kole in a 60 than a foxface. Foxfaces are very active and mine grew to about 7" in three years or so.

Foxfaces get as big as a lot of tangs and are really skittish in small spaces. Tangs are out too (as you've concluded).

Why are you eliminating blennies? Because of the midas, or just because you don't like them? I doubt an algae blenny would cause a problem for the midas (they eat different things), but maybe someone will chime in who has tried.

Also, what kind of algae are you dealing with? Maybe there's a better way to get on top of it.

I have kept a midas and an algae blenny together before in my old 55 gallon tank. If you are only eliminating it because of their potential aggressiveness towards each other, I wouldn't worry about it, they will most likely be fine! I also believe blennies have wonderful personnalities and can be truly entertaining, also like stated above they will eat different things.

Yes, but they get too big for a 2-foot cube.

Yes I am worried about the aggressiveness... I want to see if I have any other options before I commit....
