Reef safe trigger fish?

I assume Christmas Islands Deepwater Triggerfish is reef safe. Quite spendy though I might add. https://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/ItemDisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&ddid=89679

Losing a $999 fish would make ya wanna cry like a baby :)

Does 'reef safe' include the devouring of other fish in the tank? If so, I'm not sure Crosshatches can be considered reef safe. In less than a year, my pair ate (alive) 1 Green Chromis ($), 1 Flame Hawkfish ($$), and 1 Borbonius Anthias ($$$!). This last infraction cost the male a one way ride to my LFS. The female had jumped the night before. Or was she pushed? :hmm2:

That's unusual, but it can certainly happen. That's why I usually (but didn't in this thread, I see) ask exactly what people mean by "reef safe".

Its again like the mentality thing I talked about it a different thread. The behavior of "reef-safe" fish differs greatly from fish to fish. It's fish psychology actually. It depends on what size is the fish now, how big was it when it was collected, where it was collected, how it was collected, the stress from shipping, the stress of acclimating to aquarium foods, what tank mates you have, their attitudes towards the fish, and if the fish downright feels like eating the other guys. Taking this into consideration, unlikely but you could have a ocellaris clownfish that is psychotic, and attacks everything but coral...

That is a beautiful fish. To bad there so much.

I have a pair of blue throats and they are model tank mates. Keep them fat and happy, otherwise they have tried to nibble my fingers a time or two.

I had a niger trigger in a 180...he was a fair size and never bothered a thing.....then....after a while I started noticing my snail population declining....but watched and the tigger never went near them....time went on...months and months...finally one day I saw him SPIT a SHELL from a snail 3 feet across the tank! lolol
BUSTED!!!!! LOLOL

its been awhile since i have looked into this and i will be making a trip to the fish store pretty soon to look for another fish. what is the list of reef safe triggers again?

i know a niger trigger is on the list but i have been hearing bad things from others about them as of lately. like them eating cleaner shrimp and clams? can anybody confirm this?

In a 72 gallon tank??
