Reef Safe Wrasses

remember, reef safe doesn't always mean invert safe.

my favorite wrasse is a mystery wrasse. the only thing mine have ever bothered were shrimp that were added after it and every once in a blue moon it would mess with a snail.

flasher and fairy wrasse are all pretty docile fish. but IMHO they are too shy for me. every one i have ever had would hide in the rocks and get spooked really easy.

I have heard Scott's are aggressive as well as 6 lines. I have a 180 with a mystery, pink margin, solar, blue sided fairy wrasse amd a christmas wrasse. They all get along fine and bother nothing. If you keep a wrasse you will need some type of cover because they are jumpers. I have the net covering on mine and have had 2 jump on me when the top was off cleaning, luckily I was there to put them back in.

Mystery Wrasses can be very aggressive, and when they get large start to get no so attractive. Most Fairy wrasses will work. i would also look at regular leopard or ornate leopard wrasses.

My Hoeven's wrasse never jumps- I don't even keep a cover. He is totally docile, plays well with others, eats like a champ. Never seen him pick on snails or hermits, and won't go near the coarl banded shrimp.

yellow "coris", h. chrysus $ may eat some shrimp but that is rare, also eats flatworms
mccoskers or carpenter $
exquisite $
hoevens $ good flatworm eater
flame $$$$
labout $$$
lineatus $$$
rhomboid $$$$

six lines are the devil
mystery are good looking but their temperament is the opposite
leopard are very nice but are sometimes difficult to care for

youre playing russian roulette by not having some type of cover over your tank. when that fish jumps, and i mean when, you will regret not having one on there

I have an Aussie Tusk in my mixed reef. I've never had issues with him touching or eating anything. Results may vary, but I know other folks that have one as well with great success. Def the best looking wrasse out there in my personal opinion.
