Reef shops in S-Charleston?

I travel to Charleston to work in the mines from time to time. Are there any good reef shops in the southridge area worth checking out?

Just want to kill some time other than setting a hotel room looking at walls.

Thanks
Dave

Only place I think is worth a visit in that particular area would be Fuji's. Thats my opinion but then again Im pretty picky when it comes to LFS LOL.

There is also Peland at the Traces Fork shopping center but it has not been well stocked for quite some time. If you are in the area, you should stop by Nitro and see Jo Mars. They usually have a nice selection of soft coral and LPS. They also have very healthy fish. The only problem is they sell their fish really fast and if you do not stop by on a Thursday or Friday most of them will be gone. All of the shops in this area have very limited amounts of SPS coral to view.

Well.. I travel through Nitro going to and from Charleston. Also I'll be in the area this Wed-Thu.

How far off I-64 are they?

If you are up around Trace Fork/Southridge then you are very close to Fujis. If you are driving from Charleston towards the shopping centers, it is off the Davis Creek exit, then take a right (Jefferson Road). At the crest of the hill you will see an Exxon & a sign for Fujis Reef Shop.

SPS is available at two LFS in this area but it does not last long. Remember that only a handful of LFS around here know how to keep the stuff alive for any length of time. Berts in Ashland is worth the 50 or so min drive to see some cool SPS. Jo-Mar's of course, and Fuji's Reef shop also carry SPS mostly ORA frags.

I hope there is no misunderstanding here. I was only saying there is limited selection of SPS coral in the area. People that are traveling from out of state might be used to a much larger variety of SPS to choose from if they live in larger cities.

Yep pretty limited, most of the shops can order SPS for you but they don't carry a full line such as some places down south I have been to.
