Sps has grown onto front glass now

In a couple more years the bowl will have to be turned around and aquascaped where this patch of sps will then be the rear of the bowl. There is open space in the back of the tank to frag new coral colonies.

Glad to see your still updating.this. that thing is full. Sheesh. What do you say the water volume was initially in the bowl to what it is today? I'm sure coral have used up quite a bit of that water volume. Looks like less than half a gallon now.

Thanks for stopping in guys. As you can see from the vid its not a fast paced high flow/energy system it looks a little sleepy at times lol except for scurrying pods at feed time. the sole goal of the system is years +coral+no algae and nothing else, not even pleasing aesthetics lol

with the wondrous cheat that is peroxide there are no invaders that can take down the tank now, so not testing for any water params except for temp and sg has always been nice. everyone else's reef drawer is full of half dosed this n that all kinds of pumps and cables and test kits etc

well mine is too but none of its for the reefbowl heh

the system is still 1 gal in volume, I have a vid called peroxide application in the reefbowl that shows the full drain and treat into a milk jug, its a two gallon vase so the total displacement is about half. over the years I don't notice if the volume has changed, its mostly live rock set in there so thats an unchanging mass

its gets dosed daily with alk and calcium like clockwork with 100% water changes as time allows. no testing for calcium and alk, we can dose now in 1-2 gallon reefs without water testing if we know the salt mix and the two part being used, so I apply that method. you'd think the system would command more and more calcium and alk but actually that peaked in about 2009 and hasn't changed much since then. about 3/4 capfull of c balance daily is what it uses.

if/when the coralline starts to whiten thats a sign to increase and hold dosage until the next sign

2012 highlights are 2 negative 1 positive in my opinion
