Reefbreeders Photon drivers

do they use constant current drivers?
Reason I'm asking is a person I know is having a bit of a time getting a custom spectrum sorted out using some red LED's Seems for some reason it is being an issue that, if the above is true, should not apply..
You should be able to mix all sorts of V(f)'s together.

From your other post..
Yes they use constant current drivers... BUT CC drivers also have a "DC output range" that must be met as the drivers are designed to regulated current in that range only..
Changing the total Vf may have shifted it out of the useful range of the CC driver.

thanks I DID forget about that part.. Those are usually fairly high DC 50-80v range

19 x 3.4(approx) and 5x 2.1(appox)

without knowing exact specs I still having a hard time thinking 5 660nm red per channel would throw it out of the drivers range..
This is like a 7% reduction in V(f)... BUT w/out specs it is only a guesstimate...

note: did find some in the 70-100V range

An entire channel of 660nm red would still be like 54V for most "Bridgelux type" 3W chips..

Without knowing the drivers in use, its possible some protection mechanism kicked in as the array is now considered out-of-spec. Or, they are just not tolerant (which would be odd, but stuff happens)

Problem was they wouldn't even build it to spec. Complaining of voltage incompatibility which made me wonder.
Situation is being worked out as we speak.. ;)

AFAICT Logan contacts "China" w/ specs.. They respond w/ a board.
Communication can break down so to speak..

Not to be too jaded I've seen "China" respond w/ answers because they either 1)don't want to/ can't do it. or 2)think it is for your own good..

;)
