reefers near Brodheadsville PA or surrounding area

I'm looking to meet some reefers from around my area. I live in Brodheadsville PA in the Poconos. I am about 30 mins from Stroudsburg PA and about 30 to 45 mins from the Lehigh Valley PA. I work in Bethlehem PA.

I have been in the hobby for about 6 years or so. No tank for last 2.5 years due to moving and my wife and I having kids, but being set up now. I am currently setting up a RR 90 gallon tank. Going be a mixed reef w/ mainly LPS's, a few softie and a few of the easier SPSs around the trade.

Looking to befriend some follow reefers and maybe even start a club. Love this hobby, I would have to say its becoming an addiction. Just looking to BS about the hobby, maybe check out some local reefs and get to know some local reefers. Hope this doesn't sound to much like a dating site profile. Let me know.

Thanks,

Phil

Yes, not to far away. Went to school with someone from around your area.
I have been trying to get into the 'inner network' for quite some time now.
Looking for frag swap events/ect.

Well, North Central PA is quite a ride. I think the point was to find people more local.

In any case, I live in Bethlehem. Currently I have a little cube that's only been running for a few months (recently got back into the hobby). I do have a 40 gallon breeder build in the planning and gathering equipment stage, but when that actually gets set up depends on a few things.

I think you hit the nail the head. Cool to hear of someone else in the hobby that is less than an hour away. I am starting to met some people in the local area and look forward to meeting more.

I currently work in Bethlehem, send me PM if you are interested in meeting at a LFS sometime.

Hey there, I live in kresgeville, I always say I wish there was a reef club around this area. We should start one

Very cool, I'm starting to meet few people in the local area, I'm starting to think a club maybe be hard. Maybe a few people for a small frag swag could be a start. Send me a pm if interested in meeting at a LFS.

I'd be all for a club. My schedule sucks right now (7pm till 7am :help: ), but it will change to a normal Mon-Fri 8-5 in a few weeks. I'd be happy to join. If not I'd also be up for a frag swap or meetup at an LFS as well. Keep me updated!

I'm on the 6.30pm to 630am shift too sucks but soon enough ill be back on 630 to 230. I'm an industrial mechanic so if any one local ever needs help with plumbing or electrical for the fish tank I'd gladly lend a hand. Just bought my first house and my wife's pregnant with our first kid, fun times! I'm surprised there was never a club started in the Bethlehem or pocono area. I have no clue what's involved In a club but it would be nice to have other people to talk to about this hobby other then people who think your crazy for spending so much money on (fish).

Search the reef club forum . . .
There are 3 existing clubs in your 'surrounding' area:NCPARS, DVRC, Lycoming County Reef Club.
I belong to DVRC, you get 10% off livestock purchases from sponsoring vendors. I am @ the Hideout in Lake Ariel, my tank is @ home in the Delaware Valley.
Good luck.

By "surrounding" area, it was meant in 30 to 45 minutes away, w/ one hour being the furthest to travel. All of the clubs mentioned are at least 1 hour plus plus away just one way. The suggestion is appreciated.

Is it wrong to have interest in a club that is a little closer to home?

Nothing wrong with it. Sometimes I think people feel a need to police the internet when there isn't necessarily a need to do so. I understand frivolous posting clogs up servers but I do believe this discussion is valid and can lead to something quite constructive.

In any case, is Something Fishy your LFS of choice around here? As far as being near Bethlehem I can't think of one better but I feel like I'm missing something somehow...

I get all my fish from something fishy I find they have the best selection of fish on hand and healthy. For corals I like this place called knock out aquatics In stroudsburg they have great prices on coral and a lot of it. As far as dry goods I just shop online.
