Just wondering if there is any sort of sw following around Kodiak or Sitka Alaska? Are there any clubs or stores in the area?

After I finish A-school I hope to get stationed at the air station in Kodiak or Sitka Alaska.

If i do get stationed in AK i will be moving everything from Hatteras NC up to AK (about 4-5 days). any suggestions on the best way to do this move? i was going to pack everything up: corrals in buckets and glad containers, lr in rubbermaid totes, fish in small sealed buckets with battery operated airstones and a water change on days 2 and 4.

All help is appreciated.

I understand your attachment to your livestock but this is a long move and their chances of making it are not good. You will have to part with them to give them a better chance. You'd have to start over. Besides, you will definitely be thinking of them each step of the way and may be distracted while on the road.
The other way is to have a tank set up where you're going and ship the livestock. Either you leave them to someone to babysit who will ship them when you reached your destination or if you know someone where you're going, ship them to that person to babysit until you arrive. Good luck.

I would not say its impossible, but there would be some loss of life. Shipping would be best. I once moved a 55 fresh tank 1100 miles with no loss of life. About 20 fish total. We carried them out in tank with 3 inches of water. Than filled tank half full for trip. We drove straight through. The risk with salt water would be the money involved. What if you break down or anything else happens. That's a long trip and odds are stacked against you.

Wow super long move good luck if it comes down to it. You would be taking a large risk but I have moved fish from Florida to Chicago and stayed in a hotel overnight making the over all time around 48 hours. 5 fish and an octopus no loss of life. But I also had them in a Rubbermaid bin with a car battery and a live well pump running for the entire time.
