Wrasse junkie
Hi Im a reefer living in New York (Binghamton-Syracuse area) and wanted to share my new tank build with the community as Ive learned so much through everyones wisdom Id like to contribute as well. It is time to share my 187 gallon build thread. I have ordered the tank and now the waiting game begins,It is set to arrive by mid April.:bounce1:The tank is a T*E*N*E*C*O*R acrylic tank with corner dual overflows and dual returns. The dimensions are 60x30x24 and it is going to be 187 gallons . My brother and I are planning on building the stand using the plans from this link:http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1169964
He owns a tile business and is very handy. I am also going to be constructing a new sump out of glass. the measurements are going to be 40x26x18 and roughly 49 gallons. so the system will be 240 gallons

Heres some background on my existing set up. 90 gal bow front mixed reef + 30 gal sump. 2 vortech mp 40 es w's for water circulation controlled by an APEX. AI SOL Blue x2 for lighting. I have a ehiem 1262 as a return and am running gfo and carbon. My skimmer is a Super Reef Octo xp 1000 sss.

I wanted to start this thread to mainly get thoughts / support on issues Im facing. I have been immersed in this hobby since day 1 and its fair to say Im HOOKED!!!! :bum: I know that I am going to use my lights , vortechs and ehiem (with a possible upgrade to a HY5000 bubble blaster in the future) I know that I am going to have to purchase atlas 1 more AI SOL Blue unit and am planning on upgrading the skimmer to a SRO INT 3000 sss.

Please ask me / offer any advice that may make this build a great one! I am also trying to keep some of my corals and have set up a 10 gal(drilled with a sump, gfo, carbon, and chateo) to house some sps frags as well as my ricordea collection. It is going to be a short term house until the DT cycles but I am trying to figure out what to put/not to put in the 10 gal as well. On top of the coral Im also trying to keep a small swallowtail angel,1 starburst anthias,a disbar pair of anthers and my inverts. Im wondering if this is too much for 15 gallons total tank volume. If anybody would like to offer any suggestions on anything or just have general questions that would be appreciated very much. Im also going to post pictures of my existing 90 gal setup as well as my 10 gal. thanks guys and I look forward to hearing your input!

Ok so here it begins... I know its not a lot but I forgot my good camera and only had my iphone :-/ anyway here is the 1st picks of my stand. We miscalculated the amount of wood so we still need to add a few more supports but this is the gist of it

Nice start. Don't forget to add the rest of the vertical support on the stand.
Tagging along....
Btw, it's time to get a new Tupac poster......:lol2:

haha its been there for like 10 years!! I feel like if i got rid of it it would be so weird! we ran out of wood so we had to call it a day! im happy with the progress though im just happy its starting. Now i have a long long way to go. AND i cant wait! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your hard work pay off esp in this hobby.

it will be a sump plus fuge with the rest devoted to LR. I want to have a minimalist aquascape so Id like to add as much rock in there as possible. Also the reason why I made a second stand is because it was too small with the bulkhead clearance (a half a stinkin inch) and my brother could use it as a table. so we just made another.
