Reefkeeper interesting find

I picked up a Reefkeeper Lite Plus from a board member about a week ago. My intention was to get a n ALC module to control my Chinese light boxes among other functions. I've been doing everything manually for a year now (home made ATO).

With the two PC4s, the SL1 and the ALC module that arrived today, (from another board member, GO RC CLASSIFIEDS!!) I thought I was going to have to buy another temperature probe before I could set an alarm for heater shutoff.

The RKL has a 4 module limit. I plugged the iTemp probe into the bus anyways just out of sheer curiosity.

The iTemp probe DOES NOT count towards the 4 module limit on the Reefkeeper lite. (this was the discovery).

Since I did not find this information out before while searching, I thought I'd share for future folks that have the same question.

Still going to upgrade the HU eventually to an elite because I want more than one standby mode, but for now I'm very happy I decided to go the controller route.

When you upgrade the HU. You might want to consider the Archon. It will work with the modules you have and has 2 pH/ORP ports (selectable as either), 4 0-10volt ports, 2 PWM ports. Built in wifi and a hardwire lan jack. It has a iTemp port and three buss inputs.

I been using my RKL for light, ATO, skimmer and temp... works perfectly. I had the net module and can read the parameters on my iphone. I had this almost 8 years too...

Definitely look into th NET module. After a bunch of research to set up my PC, I can control my PC4's from my phone while at work. There is a tutorial on on DA Forum that explains the setup.

Very Happy with my Reef Keeper Light 6 Years now.

Lite Head Unit, PC4, SW5, Temp

I have an automatic feed Mode: (Shuts pumps and skimmer off for 20 minutes)
Standby Mode.
Maintenance Mode (Flick a switch in the cabinet and pumps, skimmer, power heads turn off)
Low Level ATO Alarm
Heater Controller.
ATO.
Maintenance Mode (Flick a switch in the cabinet and pumps, skimmer, power heads turn off)
and finally Fan controller for the summer when the Temps get high.

The SW5 really opens up what you can do with the unit.

You do know that the NET module doesn't count toward the module count either if you have the current firmware on it and your head unit. The head unit has 4 LED's. This indicates how many modules are connected to the head unit. If you remove a module it is still counts toward the module count until you delete it from the head unit.
