ReefLink ring not blue

My Reeflink ring of LED lights wont turn completely blue. I tried updating it last week and got a error message now its mostly green with 1 yellow and 1 red. I've been having problems with ESL ever since.

Sign out ESL, disconnect power cord, wait 1 minute, connect usb cord, power back on, sign on to ESL. Let it do its thing. It may get stuck while uploading, if so just refresh browser and that worked for me.

Can you guys post some steps within threads to try and help out others? These are common problems. I've had non-stop connection issues similar to the OP since I got my reef link, but this "call us" approach defeats the purpose of a forum as it only helps one person. And most of us are busy during the day...

Akrite, did you get it sorted out?

Mine goes out of connected state all the time. I'm constantly having to unplug and plug it back in, then it finally connects. This is my 2nd ReefLink, reliability of the first one was worse. It's less than 9ft from my tank, same floor, direct line of sight.

CJ,

For connection issues like yours, I would recommend following the steps below:

1. Power down the ReefLink for 30 seconds
2. Unplug all EcoTech Marine Radions and VorTechs for 30 seconds
3. Sign into EcoSmart Live using either Google Chrome or Safari as your web browser
4. Select the “Devices” tab at the top of the screen
5. Select “Refresh Devices”
6. After the device icons turn blue, you are now connected.

No I have not. I'm not home during the hours Echotech's customer service is open. I have factory reset both my Reeflink and Radions and started a new Aquarium multiple time but my Reeflink can't find my Radions wireless. Only when I connect with USB will the Reeflink find them, but once I unplug I get nothing.

I believe the problem is the Reeflink. I tried to update it but it seems to freeze or get stuck and not complete the installation. I've wait over and hour and it just has a white ring with 1 blinking red light. Reeflink setup has a Format SD card option has anyone tried that?

it seems this is a reoccurring problem. my reeflink has to constantly be unplugged so that I can reconnect. It is literally next to the router that is 2 feet away from the tank. If I switch through the pump modes too fast it loses connectivity. It is very very frustrating and I hope ecotech resolves this issue soon.

I would recommend moving your ReefLink further from your router. When placed that close to other wireless devices you will experience interface and have frequent disconnections.

Thanks to Echotechs Customer Service my Reeflink is working perfectly. Turns out the RF module inside my reeflink was loose. Opened it, firmly pushed it back in, closed it and powered it back up. ESL found my Radions and Vortechs within seconds. Thankfully it was a easy hardware fix and not a software issue.

I'm having issues as well with my new Reeflink I got earlier this week. It constantly loses connection and the only way to get it sorted out is to unplug it and replug it back in. It's embarrassing when I try to show my Radions and Reeflink off to visitors who come to see my tank and it's inconvenient.

Walter,

I would try moving the ReefLink to a different location. Generally when ReefLinks disconnect frequently it's because there are other strong wireless signals in the area causing interference.

I'm in the same boat. I set up the reeflink and work perfect for 7 days. Now I cannot connect and have to unplug and plug the reeflink for it to work. I have tried moving the reeflink to different parts of the room and deleting my apps and reinstall. Also tried different iphones and the only way it will connect is unplug and plug back. LED stays blue all the time and I can see the mac address connected to my router. What's happening??? Any ideas

I took the day off and had a chat with the fellas at ET again. They advised me to uninstall Connection Manager or make sure it was not running anymore. I was so used to always having it open. I haven't uninstalled it but I did quit the program. I haven't had an issue connecting today since and I have been playing with ESL all day. Try that, folks.

Had to power cycle the reeflink again just now. I was bragging at the LFS and wanted to show some people there but got kinda embarrass when it didn't connect. Oh well Have to call Ecotech

Looks like my fix didn't work. My Reeflink is now red, yellow and green and not connecting. UGH!

I spoke with Ecotech today and they advise me that a new patch was release this morning to solve this issue and also try the power cycle of all equipment as mention above.

I move my reeflink near the router and hook up cable straight instead of wifi and the reeflink is ok at this point.

If your router is with 30-40 feet from your radion and vortech I would run straight cable from router to reeflink
