ReefLink Setup Issue on Mac

When I attempted to set up my ReefLink via my Mac (OS X 10.9.3), the ReefLink Setup utility asked me to upgrade to version 1.0.6, which I did.

Afterward, the setup utility failed to recognize my ReefLink, stating:

"Please connect your ReefLink with a USB cable."

I tried multiple USB ports with no luck.

I then uninstalled the utility and installed it again without the 1.0.6 upgrade.

Version 1.0.3 seemed to recognize my ReefLink immediately, but it's been stuck on the following screen for a long time"

"Please wait a moment while your ReefLink initializes..."

I specifically waited to purchase my Radions and ReefLink in order for EcoTech to work out these issues, as I had heard quite a bit about problems with the product.

As the happy owner of multiple Vortech pumps, I decided finally to take the chance. Unfortunately, the first thing I ran into was this issue, which is quite disappointing.

I hope this is just a small hiccup, and that once I'm up and running, it'll be smoother sailing.

So, no better news to report from the Windows side. I just followed the basic instructions, and it failed to install the device drivers on Windows 7.

I suppose I'll give support a call, but it's unfortunately that I have to do so. I expected a much easier process.

I'm also not really sure if I'm missing something regarding the manual. I have what appears to be a "Quick Start Guide." This guide doesn't explain anything about the reset button or the indicator light on the top of the unit. This indicator light also appears to be a button, but I can't find any documentation on it. Am I missing something?

When I went to the website, I see a link to download this quick start guide, but there doesn't appear to be any other manual.

Oh, and the quick start guide in English on the website seems to have a blank second page. Maybe it's some quirk with my Mac viewing it, but I only see the first page.

Alright, I was just able to get the drivers installed through the Device Manager. Not sure why they would have failed during the initial install, but setup seems to be proceeding for now.

Still not sure of the issue with setting it up on the Mac, but at least I'm moving forward.

Now I'm struggling with EcoSmart Live.

1. Settings -> Aquarium Settings doesn't seem to do anything.

2. Neither does Settings -> EcoSMART Participation. (Also, EcoSMART? EcoSmart?)

3. Settings -> Manage ReefLinks -> ReefLink Details -> ReefLink Actions -> Firmware Update seems to try to update my firmware every time, without checking if it's already up-to-date.

4. The site seems to complain about my ReefLink having disconnected quite often.

5. Now when I went back to the site, it seems to have worked a bit more as expected. It finally asked me to name my aquarium, which it didn't do previously.

Steven,

Please make sure you are using either Google Chrome or Safari as your web browser when trying to access ESL. Also, if your continue to have issues, I would recommend power cycling your ReefLink and all other EcoTech equipment.

Thanks. Was using Google Chrome, and the first thing I did was power cycle everything. Anyway, it's up now. Still struggling with some things on ESL, but I think things are working better now.

Quick question...

With Tidal Swell Mode and Nutrient Transport Mode, should the slave be set to sync or anti-sync?

I set it to anti-sync, but I'm not seeing the slave flash white/orange/teal as described in the manual. It appears to be solid orange.

Bidny,

I would recommend experimenting with sync and anti-sync until you find what works best for you. In addition, if the pump dial is solid orange this will indicate you're in anti-sync mode.

? Confused.

From the manual:

"In this mode [EcoSmart TSM], your EcoSmart master driver will be purple and your slave driver will flash white/orange/teal and indicate it speed by the LED strip."

Is this not true?
